I love the ocean, the beauty & vastness of it. I love how wonderfully it reflects the nature of its Creator…our heavenly Father…in so many different ways. While we were there recently, I grabbed my journal and headed down to the beach to meditate and reflect.

Lord, You are Creator of all things.

“For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities– all things have been created through Him and for Him.”
Colossians 1:16

“All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.”
John 1:3

You are the One who made me…and it’s Your breath that gives me life.

“The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” Job 33:4

You stretched out the heavens above me. You spread out the earth underneath and around me. Every living thing has life…only because You give them the breath of life.

“Thus says God the LORD, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread out the earth and its offspring, Who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk in it,” Isaiah 42:5

You, Lord, are the Mover of the waves! You are the Calmer of storms and the Calmer of hearts.

“For I am the LORD your God, who stirs up the sea and its waves roar (the LORD of hosts is His name).” Isaiah 51:15

“He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed.” Psalm 107:29

“And he awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm.” Luke 8:24b

“With his love, he will calm all your fears.”Zephaniah 3:17

 

I stand on the shore of Your vast ocean…and my heart is overwhelmed! My thoughts echo the words of the Psalmist…

“O LORD, how many are Your works!  In wisdom You have made them all;
the earth is full of Your possessions.  There is the sea, great and broad, in which are swarms without number, animals both small and great.” Psalm 104:24-25

The depths of the sea are unsearchable, yet the depth of Your understanding is even more unsearchable!

“Have not heard? Have you not understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.” Isaiah 40:28

 

Father, I cannot stand on Your shore, just a pinpoint on the map of Your creation, and not see glimpses of You, the One who created it!! You are beautiful and holy, full of wisdom and love beyond measure. You are faithful, and like these waves that keep rolling in, Your love washes over me unceasingly. I dare not stand in awe of Your beautiful creation and not give You praise and glory!! On this sandy shore You show me glimpses of You. You, Creator and Master Artist, look down and see me, part of the works of Your hands, part of this beauty on the shore. Forgive me for the times that I’ve stood in awe of Your beautiful works and not seen all of the reflections of You.  

Thank You for Your grace & great love towards me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
