Submerged in sin, chained within
Burdens heavy, heart heavy
Hands dirty, heart dirty
Heartbroken.
Avoiding stares, condemning glares
Head low to hide the shame
Weeping inside, wilting inside
Put on a face, shoulders straight
Act like I don’t care, but it hurts…
Sun’s up again, same thing
Thirsty body, thirsty heart
Dry soul
Trip to the well…Again.
Empty pitcher, empty heart
But wait…
Who is He? (A Jew?)
He’s looking at me…
Why does He look as if He knows me?
Those eyes…
Why do I suddenly want Him to hold me…
Enfold me
To dry these tears my soul is shedding
He speaks to me
To ME
Why would He speak to me?
Yet…
It feels right
It feels like…that voice…do I know that voice?
Soul reaching
Heart longing
Thirsty…so thirsty
Flesh fighting, head and words questioning
What my heart is seeking
What my heart is seeing
What my ears are hearing
What my heart is hearing
Grace in His eyes
(no condemnation though He knows…)
Love in His voice
His Words like rain on my thirsty soul
Quenching
Then…
LIGHT.
Glorious LIGHT.
Joy bursting
Springing forth
Chains breaking
Burdens lifting
Living Water quenching…like nothing I’ve tasted…
And I’ll never go back, never thirst…
But I run
I run back, eyes wild
Eyes open
Hair streaming, tears streaming…
Curious stares
They circle ’round
“Is that HER?”
“She’s…different…”
“She’s…radiant?”
“HE…He knew me!!
Knows me!!
The Messiah!!
He knew…He saw…
Now something is different…
It’s all different!!
He…He loves ME.
Loves me!!
And now…now I see!!
I can see!!”
And they run…they run to see.
And I SPIN.
Palms up, hair wild
And laugh…is that me?
Is that sound bubbling up out of ME?!!
Is this joy?!
Eyes to heaven, knees fall to earth
Praise and tears spilling forth
Out of heart
Out of lips…
JESUS.
Beautiful Jesus.
We share the story
This thirsty woman’s story…
A once~thirsty heart
A sin~stained heart
A broken~to~pieces heart…
Then Love reached to us
Love offered us Living Water
Love sat with us in our mess
And He sees…
And He knows…
And He forgives…
And He loves.
