“The world is changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air. Much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it.” ~Galadriel from “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring”
The world is changing. Do you feel it?
There are things that we want to remain the same, that we want to hold on to, that are changing.
There are things we had like phones on walls with cords that limited how far you could conversate and answering machines and cars that started with keys not buttons…our kids don’t know what they are (or were) & think we’re dinosaurs for having used them…technology is changing how we interact with one another…the growth of online shopping due to our busyness is changing the way we shop…the way we listen to music is ever~changing…phones are ever~changing…
…the political world is changing…
we can’t keep up with all the changes and sometimes
we all just want something that will remain the same
we all just need unchanging
and if we would just reach a little we would see that He is there…
“…that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward Him and find Him. Yet He is actually not far from each one of us…” Acts 17:27
People change. Politics and Presidents change. Stuff changes. Styles change. The World’s standards change.
God is the only Unchanging One.
“For I the LORD do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.”
And don’t we become consumed with all of the changing things? We become frantic and lose our footing because the place where we have set our feet is shifting sand and not the Solid Rock.
“For who is God, but the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God?” Psalm 18:31
There is no other Rock except the Lord.
“Everyone then who hears these words of Mine (Jesus) and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of Mine (Jesus) and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:24-27
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8
We can look around at all the things that are changing and scary
or we can look to the Unchanging Rock and be secure in Him…
we can set our hope on Him…
“This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast…” Hebrews 6:19
Take heart!!
We don’t have to worry about changes because we can look to God and He is always the same. We can place our hope in Him alone and KNOW that whatever happens, He will never change, His promises will never change. His Word is tried and true.
“As for God, His way is blameless; The word of the LORD is tried; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.” Psalm 18:30
Father, I praise You today because You alone are unchanging. I thank You that I can have peace in knowing that I can put my hope and faith and trust in You and You will never change. Your love for me will always be unfathomable…Your grace for me will always be immeasurable. Your promises are true and my eternity is secure in You. Thank You! I know that even when things change on this earth I can set my hope on You and fix my gaze on You and set my feet on the Rock and You will be my firm foundation when the rain and floods and winds of the world come. Thank You for my security in You! In Jesus’ unchanging and holy Name, Amen!
Blessings!!
