I’ve been forgetting to look up lately.
This morning on my run, listening to a song about God’s faithfulness, I looked up and the sky was stunning. I had to stop and take a picture…even though pictures never do the real thing justice.

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims His handiwork.
Psalm 19:1
God’s declarations are quiet, powerful, beautiful…God’s declarations speak peace and life, reminding us of His faithfulness. They stop us in our tracks and restore our awe and reverence for Him…“declaring the glory of God”.
He uses earthly things, like a beautiful morning sky that is His handiwork, to remind us that He is the Creator and that “WE are (also) His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
He melds physical and spiritual together for us so we can understand better. Because He knows that we need tangible things to help us with our feeble faith. This morning as I physically looked up, He reminded my soul to look back up at Him too…and it would see more beauty than even the sky could contain. He reminded me that He’s prepared good works for me to walk in.
I forget that when I don’t look up.
His works point us (back) to Him.
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse.
Romans 1:20
I’m sometimes so amazed that God just doesn’t give up on us. We walk around with our heads down and forget to look at Him. He doesn’t ever force our heads back up though…He doesn’t work that way. He draws us back with awe and beauty and grace. He doesn’t give up on us…even when we give up on ourselves. And on Him, sometimes.
…if we are faithless, He remains faithful— for He cannot deny himself.
2 Timothy 2:13
What amazing grace.
Father, thank You for declaring Yourself to me this morning. Thank you for painting a beautiful sky that would cause my soul to look up at You. Because I forget, and You know that, and You still don’t give up on me. Favor undeserved…yet You grant it anyway. I stand in awe of You.
One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.
Psalm 27:4
Today my soul will gaze upon Your beauty, Lord.
Blessings,
Nicole
“Search for the LORD and for His strength; seek His face always.” Psalm 105:4

I liked the different verses you used and how they all connect together. I tend to look at the ground when I run, I guess I feel like it conserves the most energy? But I enjoy it far more when I look around and look up. I love how God uses creation to reveal himself and how it can be refreshing for our soul. Thanks for the reminder.
