I know that our fires were not the same
But I’ve survived one too.
The flames touched us both in different ways
But I was burned like you.
Maybe you ran as far as you could.
Maybe you fought it with all that you had.
Maybe you froze, paralyzed.
Maybe you sobbed, watching flames consume…
all that was dear the flames consumed…
My dear,
I’ve been through the fire, too.
We’ve both suffered greatly, in different ways.
I feel your pain like I feel mine too.
I’m picking through the rubble, just like you.
I hurt, but your hurting hurts me too.
I wish you’d let me in, feel my suffering, too.
We could heal together…
Comfort each other…
But the walls you’ve put up are so hard to get through.
Help me sift through the rubble…I’ll help sift through yours too.
I’ve been through the fire, too.
Don’t think you’re alone in the aftermath…
You’re not alone in the aftermath…
I’ve been through the fire, too.
“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:2
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
